Hagar Scher

Hagar Scher is a collaborative writer and editor who has worked on a wide variety of book projects, helping authors hook readers with clear, energetic writing and compelling narrative arcs. She takes great pride in being able to respond to feedback and edits with enthusiasm, grace, and efficiency. Hagar’s clients have included chefs, CEOs, psychologists, activists, and a wedding planner. She has also partnered with Apple TV+ to create book tie-ins to iconic programs including Severance and Oprah’s Book Club. Hagar’s own writing has appeared in various anthologies and in dozens of national publications including the Chicago Tribune, Conde Nast Traveler, Glamour, Ms., the New York Times, and the Women’s Review of Books, among others. Hagar has had the great fortune of channeling her curiosity about the world and people into a career in words, from early jobs as a Reuters cultural reporter and a fact-checker at Spin to director-level editorial jobs at A&E Television and Apple. Raised in a number of different countries and cultures, Hagar has lived and traveled around the world—New York City and Berkeley, California are the places she has called home the longest, but she also spends long stretches in Italy. A graduate of McGill University where she majored in theater arts, Hagar is happiest when she’s A. reading; B. wandering; C. eating street food; D. sitting down to a meal with friends; and E. hiking in beautiful places.
